The shipment invoice report, also known as the Adjustments Report, captures cost adjustments made by carriers after a shipment is processed. Adjustments occur when the carrier verifies shipment details and finds discrepancies with the information originally provided, such as weight, dimensions, or mail class.
For example, a label may have been purchased for $18, but after carrier processing, the actual cost was determined to be $23. In this case, the adjustment charge would be $5.
Prerequisites
- An active EasyPost account
- Access to the EasyPost Dashboard with billing and reports permissions.
Generating the Adjustments Report
- Log in to the EasyPost Dashboard.
- Navigate to Account Settings > Billing.
- Scroll down the page to the Invoices and Logs section.
- Select the Adjustments tab.
- Select a date range (maximum of 31 days) and timezone.
- Select Generate Report.
- Use the available checkboxes to include or exclude specific information.
- Select Export to download a CSV file containing the report data.
Viewing Past Reports
- Navigate to the Reports page in the Dashboard.
- Use the Report Type filter to select the report type (e.g., Shipments, Payment Logs, etc.).
- A table displays previously generated reports with creation dates and date ranges.
- Select Download to redownload a report file.
Disputing Adjustments
Adjustments can be disputed within 30 days of the carrier's charge. Each carrier has its own dispute process, and final decisions are determined by the carrier.
Disputing USPS Adjustments
To dispute an adjustment with USPS:
- Go to https://apvdisputes.usps.com.
- Complete the form with the following details:
- APV adjustment ID (from the Package Dispute ID column)
- Tracking code (from the Tracking Code column)
- Reason for dispute
- For questions, contact USPS directly at apvsupport@usps.gov.
If approved, USPS will notify EasyPost, and the corresponding credit will be applied to the EasyPost account balance. Processing may take 2-4 weeks.
Tips to Avoid Adjustments
- Measure package dimensions and weight multiple times for accuracy.
- Round dimensions up to the nearest inch or pound.
- Verify scale calibration before weighing packages.
- Review carrier service restrictions and dimensional limits.
