EasyPost has two available environments: the production environment and the test environment. From the dashboard, you can toggle between the two environments by using “Environment” dropdown menu on the page (as shown below on the shipments page):
Production vs. Test Environment
- Production - This environment is used to for all shipments, trackers, reports, etc. that are actually being processed through EasyPost.
- Test - You can perform every function you would be able to in production in test, however there are a few differences.
- You do NOT get charged for printing labels
- Labels, tracking information and shipment updates are all fake/VOID and are not valid in the 'real world'
You can purchase labels in our test environment, but they will not be valid for real shipments. You will need to switch to production mode before you can purchase shippable labels.
