The Shipments Report is your window into every shipping label you generate and purchase through your EasyPost account. It includes details such as Tracking Code, Address details, Carrier or Service level and more! This report is invaluable to understanding your shipping behavior, managing your shipments and optimizing your business practices.
This article will cover how Shipments are generated and how you can find and download your shipment data.
How are Shipments created?
Shipments can be created in two ways. First is through creating shipping labels via a direct integration to your Order Management System using our EasyPost API or through the EasyPost Dashboard. When a label is purchased on your EasyPost account, we automatically create a shipment record and with it will store details about that shipment including package details like length, width, or height as well as transit and cost data. For a full list of data available on the Shipment record, see our table here.
How do I view Shipment data for a specific shipment?
If you have a specific shipment you need to see information on, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Shipments page of your EasyPost Dashboard.
- Use the search bar to enter the Tracking Code, Shipment ID or Reference number, if you used one when you made the label.
- Alternatively you may use the Date Range Filter to pull up all shipments during a time frame (max 32 days) by setting the date filters then clicking the SEARCH button.
- Your result(s) will display in the table.
- By selecting the Details drop down on the right, the row will expand to show you the data associated to that shipment along with some extra actions such as Track or Refund the shipment.
How do I generate a Shipments Report?
If you would like to gather data for many shipments at once, you'll want to generate a Shipments report. These can be created via API or from your EasyPost Dashboard by following these steps:
- Navigate to the Shipments page of your EasyPost Dashboard.
- Use the Date Range Filter to pull up all shipments during a desired time frame (max 32 days) by setting the date filters. Then click the REQUEST CSV button.
- Use the modal to include/exclude data that you want to be included in your final file.
- For example, include the Carrier Account ID column if you would like to see which specific carrier account was associated with the shipment (critical if you'd like to evaluate specific carrier accounts.
- Specify if you would like the file sent via email using the Send Email checkbox (optional)
- EXPORT your file to execute the request. The file will automatically be downloaded to your device, as well as sent via email (if selected).
