Learn how using the EasyPost API simplifies your FedEx Delivery End of Day Close/Print Manifest process by automatically submitting the information electronically to FedEx.
Manifesting FedEx Shipments
The Manifest required for FedEx Delivery End of Day Close is essentially a list of shipments that you send to the carrier letting them know you plan to ship those packages by the end of the day within a 24-hour rotating period. Some carriers require that you send the Manifest daily for your shipments. If you’ve used the FedEx website, you may have previously clicked the option for End of Day Close/Print Manifest to perform the FedEx Ground End of Day Close procedure and transmit your shipping data to FedEx.
When you integrate with the EasyPost API, you will not need to submit a FedEx Delivery End of Day Closeout or print out a physical Manifest to present to your FedEx delivery driver. The Manifest data and all required information for the End of Day Closeout is automatically sent whenever you purchase a FedEx label via EasyPost.
If your FedEx delivery driver requests the Manifest, just tell them that EasyPost sends this information via electronic transfer directly to FedEx, so there’s no need to verify it physically.
If you’d like, you can still ask your FedEx delivery driver to do an acceptance scan of your package to initiate the tracking details for the shipment. Otherwise, the tracking trail will begin once the package is scanned at the FedEx facility.
