What is USPS Ground Advantage?
USPS Ground Advantage is a consolidated and rebranded mail class from a merger of First-Class Package Service (FCPS) Retail and Commercial, Retail Ground (RG), and Parcel Select Ground (PSG). It is a similar service to PSG and FCPS with minor adjustments.
USPS Ground Advantage service standard and details
- 2-5 days estimated national service standard including offshore deliveries
- Includes $100 of USPS insurance coverage for no additional cost
- Shipments can be up to 70 lbs and 130 inches in length + girth, with ounce pricing at 4 oz., 8oz., 12 oz., and 15.999 oz.
- Shipments may be subject to oversized pricing, nonstandard package fees, and dimension noncompliance fees
- EasyPost will support Commercial rates that are zone and weight based, or cubic based
- Dimensional Weight Pricing applies to all weights and zones
- Postage for parcels addressed for delivery to Zones 1-9 and exceeding 1 cubic foot is based on the actual weight or the dimensional weight, whichever is greater
What is USPS Ground Advantage Return Service?
The USPS Ground Advantage Return Service has similar characteristics to USPS Ground Advantage. USPS Ground Advantage Return Service will replace the ‘Ground Return Service’ and ‘First-Class Package Return Service’ with minor changes.

- Ounce based pricing will be removed, therefore any shipments less than 1 lb will return a 1 lb rate

Can I still make USPS Parcel Select Ground or First-Class Package Service API requests instead of USPS Ground Advantage?
USPS will implement the service changes on July 9, 2023. Legacy ‘First’ or ‘ParcelSelect’ API service names will continue to be supported until January 21, 2024, but will result in a USPS Ground Advantage shipping label. After January 21, 2024 the legacy service names will no longer be supported.
